    battery posts

Well, this is going to be a dumb question so be prepared. Why do my marine batteries have dual posts- the ones that are covered by a plastic knob. Could this posts be used to jumpstart your battery? Thanks for your answers. Lark

    Re: battery posts (Lark)

Some boat wires have the big end to fit around it like the older cars had.
Sure you can use them to jump start if you like! hope this answers your Question.
And by the way there is no such thing as a dumb question!!!!!!!!!! Thats how we all learn is to ask questions!

    Re: battery posts (POPSICLE_OTR)

I find the bigger posts are easier to hook up a portable battery charger.
