    Mercury Force spark plugs

    Hey guys,
I just bought a bought with a 97 120 HP force on it. It's my first boat, so I hope to learn a lot from it. I want to change the spark plugs, but I don't know what to get. Do you have to use plugs that are specifically for a Force motor (which will have to be ordered from a dealershipe that sells merc's)? Or do most plugs work on this motor? Sorry for the novice question, but like I said I'm learning and by no means am I a mechanic. Any other good yearly maintenace tips would be appreciated (I'm aware about the lower unit oil). Thanks for the patience and help.

Goto the Mercury Motors forum and ask this question. I am sure someone has the answer.

    Congratulations on your boat purchase.
You should be able to buy the plugs at pretty much any auto parts store (AutoZone, Bumper to Bumper, etc.) Just my opinion...But if they offer them in NGK, and also tell you they have a cheaper plug "Nipendenso" (That's not the correct spelling, but that's how they pronounce it here). Spend the extra money & put the NGK plugs. I had a lot of bad experience running the cheaper plugs in some engines. They may offer a Champion plug, or other brand too, and I really don't know how good they are...But I would advise to stay away from the particular brand I mentioned. Hope you enjoy your boat.

I did some checking in my NGK book and it says you should use NGK BUZHW plugs. I found them in my Honda pricwe list at $12.60. You might have to buy a box of 10 but a Honda m/c dealer should be able to otrder them for you. I normaly find that plugs are cheaper at a non-marine dealer. Gerald
