    Johnson 150 carb-hard restart

I have a 2000 150hp Johnson-carbed, Starts OK, but after running to fishing spot and sitting for a while, hard start, acts like it loads up, need to rev up and clear out to keep it running, and this takes a while- rather annoying and embarassing. Has new fuel line/filter.
    Appreciate any help.

Re: Johnson 150 carb-hard restart (1 fishing fool)

I purchased this boat about a year ago, it had a bad hard restart than but, I would have to pump the primer- since than i replace the fuel line and primer ball_ now it fires up beter but usually dies quickly. I must rev it up coanstantly for a while.
Once I do get it in gear I have to play with the throttle to get it going, especially at low rpm. I hope this explains better.

    Thanks for any help

Next step is to check your quick start feature then. The very first start of the day you should have your primer bulb pumped firm. Turn the key to on and depress it for 5 seconds then turn to start. If no start turn key to off then back to on and depress it for 5 seconds again and attempt to start. Next attempt no choke. The problem lies from high temps in the engine compartment after a run. With E-10 fuel and the water content in the fuel. It will tend to "boil" in the vapor separator tank. Before you move to your next stop prime the bulb a few times to pump fresh cooler fuel into the vapor tank and you should be able to take off fine.

OK don't make any adjustments, go to the lake and when it bogs hit the choke if it takes off then you have a fuel issue. If it stumbles and dies then you have an electrical issue.
