BUMPER RAIL ROPE REPLACEMENT

I was going to replace the rope inside the bumper rail on my recently purchased new to me 1985 375V Ranger but have decided it would nicer to replace it with something like red air line tubing or something similar. Has anyone done something like this and tell what to use (size) and where to get it.

Unless you can find any better quality air hose than I have seen in the past couple of years you would be better off using something else. Personnally , I alsays thought the rope looks pretty classy.

What type rope and what size. Maybe I can find it in red. Thanks for your input, your opinion is ever so much appreciated.

Find yourself a marine supply store(west marine or other) they should be able to hook you up with something. You could pull the end out( from back at the transom) and measure the diameter.

My Stratos 230FS came with a red tube rub rail insert about 3/8 - 7/16 in diameter I understand replacement is available thru a vendor in the Javelin/Stratos section. Look in that section for rub rail insert and find his post.I was going to replace mine but I found only the outside was faded so I turned it inside out.

Ive got an 86 395VS I've restored and Im doing exactlly the same thing. It took me a while to find the right material at the right price .....ordered it and I think it will be the right fit...... 1/2 od is what we need for our era Rangers. Should have it early this week....

Roger that..... Shoule be here in a few days, I post a pic for you. Sandbardan made the suggestion to me and I finally found the right material. I mocked up what it would look like with some red ski rope and I think its gonna look awesome.....

That red looks sharp on that white with those letters. I have beige carpet but am betting yours is red. Looking forward to pics. Is it hard to get the rear mounting back together after install? I am almost afraid to take it apart.

Popped in the hose last night....I am very pleased with the stiffness of the hose....It will do its job for certain.
