    Loose battery lead ?

Will a loose lead on the battery harm an outboard and cause it to die when put in gear?

Loose battery cables are bad no matter which engine you have. We will need at least a model # to help with diagnosing the issue.

Many rectifiers have been burnt out because of loose cables, if you have wing nuts, get rid of 'em and get SS lock washers and nuts.

So if the rectifier is messed up it will not charge right? Cause I am putting out 14-14.5v

What are your RPM's at idle in neutral and in gear? If it dies as soon as you pop it in gear you have a LU issue.

In nuetural rpm's around 800 but I would put it in gear and rpm's droped to about 500 or so I could get it to go for a little bit playing with the choke but when I tried to give it gass it would die got it on plane twice struggeled to do so. Got on the trailer and that is when I noticed the lugs were loose on the battery

Neutral rpms are low. Need to be up 1-200 RPM. Adjust your idle screw.
