I have a 2001 Lowe 170 (similar to the Stinger). It is setup like any bass boat. Only problem is that the front casting deck is just a little too short and there is a solid 2-3 feet between the back edge of the casting to the front of the drivers console. Granted this is an aluminum boat so the sides of the boat angle slighty, I was thinking of extending off the exisiting casting deck to the front of the console by framing in the area inside the boat and attaching plywood/type of metal as a liner and then attempting to match the what seems as normal marine carpeting that I should be able to match pretty easily..
I was hoping I could leave an access hole in the front of the deck, like the original has so I can store my rods underneath the casting by putting in a rod holder to keep them in place. Because the deck will be alot bigger do you think it would be possible to make latches in the deck to store things like tackle boxes under the deck.
I was hoping you guys could help me get started as to how to design this and what to think about, and defintely will need help in designing storage compartments and working latches, if anyone has knowledge of this I would love to pick your brain or even send you a picture of the inside of my boat so you can help me plan. I can;t afford a big glass boat but my tin boat is super clean and a new extended deck and added storage underneath for tackle boxes and rods... Help please
