Carpet and Pro Control install (Warning, 14 pics)

    Pics of my carpet install.......

Pulled the carpet from the lids........
    [IMG][/IMG]

The lids all looked like this....
    [IMG][/IMG]

Some Laquer Thinner and a scraper
    [IMG][/IMG]

    I didn't get many pics inbetween.....sorry
    [IMG][/IMG]

Finished with the carpet. The carpet job took me about 1 week to do. I was only getting 2-3 hours per night to work on it. Foot tray is next.
    [IMG][/IMG]

First, I had to lay out the template that comes with the tray. I went with the Pro Control. Thanks Mark Miller!
I made sure that there wasn't any kind of bracing underneath.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Then I made my mark with a sharpie
    [IMG][/IMG]

Then I took my utility knife and cut the carpet on my lines
    [IMG][/IMG]

Here is what it looked like underneath. I glued that carpet down really, really, really well
    [IMG][/IMG]

I drilled a hole at each corner with my cordless drill. I made the holes big enough to get my sawzall blade in it and pulled the trigger. Make sure you use a sharp blade and take your time.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Test fit. I cut the hole a bit small at first and then I just had to do a little trim work to make it fit just right.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Wife wasn't home so I got out the Dyson and cleaned up the carpet. I installed the hose on the try and got my 1/8" drill bit ready for the pilot holes
    [IMG][/IMG]

Finished product. It took me all of 50 minutes to complete the tray install by myself.

Mark, I would be willing to help if we were a bit closer. You are in Springfield? 3 1/2 hours door to door. Bring it up......

Re: Carpet and Pro Control install (Tom in Stl)

I just got through with recarpet job and installed recessed pedal tray. Also replace the steering. If you are going to keep the boat go ahead and put hydrualic steering in. Very simple a lot easier than the carpet. I have a 98 Stratos 295 PE. I also made the cut beforet the new carpet install which I think was easier, But you did a great job.

Re: Carpet and Pro Control install (stratosboat1)

I would love to add hydraulic but that adds another 400-500 to my bill. I have to go low budget this spring due to wife recently losing job.
