Recarpeting a new deck box - looking for some advice?

Just built a 36" long 52 wide deck box for my old skeeter. One lid to cover.
Just picked up the Walmart DAP contact cement, blades and a few spare brushes.

Have never done this before...box is very simple wood on one side rest of deck is mounted on stainless steel brackets- one medium size hatch in center of box....

What about the Carpet direction, mount carpet on the underneatch side of deck box, spread dap all over the deck and lid then wrap carpet (whats the timeframe with laying the carpet down after the dap is applied, any clamps to be applied to the cornets etc......sorry for all the newbie questions..... help me with a few tips here guys?

I would coat the wood with epoxy resin first. This will ensure that water cannot get into it. As far as the DAP, you wont need any clamps or anything. Once that stuff sticks it is stuck. I layed the carpet down on the floor and coated it and the lid with the DAP. First though I traced the outline of the lid on the carpet so I only painted the DAP on the carpet where the top of the lid would be. Wait about 15 min then lay the lid down on the carpet, it will bond instantly. They I trimmed the carpet to match the amount needed to wrap the lip, coat the carpet and the lid edges and lip, again wait 15 minutes and BAM on to the next lid. Good luck, it is pretty easy.

How do you waterproof the crack around the lids after you carpet them??
