I'm probably going up to Squam one day and somewhere closer another day. Gas prices are hurting making two trips to the lakes region in one weekend.

Re: Anyone fishing over the long weekend (Bugs)

Nice fish Bugs. I've never been there.

Squam was OK... Nothing spectacular size wise but numbers were up there. I probably caught 30-40 smallmouth in 7 hours. Sadly 70% of them wouldn't have hit the keeper size. 5 biggest may have tipped the scales at 11-12lbs.

    Typical of Squam though.

    How did everyone else do?

I hit some small ponds over the weekend.

Sat. I went to clough state park I got 11 bass with a few 3 pounders

Sun. I went to Drew lake, again I got 11 bass with one 6 pounder and two 4 pounders

Mon. I went to Loon pond and caught 1 bass and I think I was lucky to catch that one I tried everything and all I could catch was yellow perch

Re: Anyone fishing over the long weekend (Jazz)

It was only my third time at drew and first time this year.
I thought I could hide from the wind there. The key word was THOUGHT
It had to be 30mph winds straight down the middle with no hiding at all.
I got there at about 8:30 there was 2 boats and a canoe.
within about 2 hrs I had the place to myself for the rest of the day
they all got out of there because of the wind
I got 3 on jigs,7 on a silver rapala and one on a horny toad.
lots of pickerel and perch.I would like to go back on a nice day.

Re: Anyone fishing over the long weekend (TMG)

Friday night, Sarah and I went out for 2 hours. Sarah caught her first Bass on a frog. She felt the rush and can't wait to do it again.
Sat. I went out with Phil for about 7 hours to Stumpfield. We started off nice but the bottom fell out real quick and made for a long morning.
Sun. I went with Russ to the Concord section or the Merrimac River. We thought for sure we would run into Rod there. Due to cell phone issues, I got a call from Jazz but my phone didn't ring. We caught about 10 total with just a couple of 3's and a few 2's. The current was ripping and the flash flood they had (judging from the water line on the trees) must have done a number on the fish. A lot of the weeds that were there in July were gone and the water color was chocolate. Between the 20-30+ winds and the fast current, I had drained my batteries in 8 hours of use.
Sarah is having a huge yard sale this weekend. I HATE yard sales as much as Rod loves rivers. Sooooo, I'll be heading out Late in the morning on Friday to fish Contoocook Lake by myself. Then on Sat. I'll be fishing with Phil and then on Sunday, I'll be fishing with Russ. I'll be helping set up early on Friday and I'll help break things down on Sunday. That's it.

Re: Anyone fishing over the long weekend (TMG)

I haven't been to Contoocook in 20+ years. It's close to work and it gives me a few hours to wet a line before heading in for a few hours. I'll report on it when I finish.
