    Johnson 225

Recently purchased a Boat with a Johnson 225. The boat had been sitting up for a long time. When we started checking the compression the #4 cylinder only had 80 psi. We pulled the head and found a significant gouge in the wall of the cyclinder. All of the other cyclinders had the correct compression. The plan is to sleeve that cyclinder and install a new piston. Is there a need to replace the rings on the other pistons since the compression is good on those?

Once they are out mark them and then mich the pistons and cylinders to check for Oval conditions. A good hone job and new rings would be good if you are going to sleeve that cylinder. Good thing it is a looper as the X flows are a solid sleeve and have to be cut by a shop.
