Help! Looking to get into making my own Jigs

Since Christmas is around the corner, I am looking at getting into making my own jigs from scratch. Everyone is asking what they should buy me and I am thinking that this would be a good time to get into it. I am needing to know what I need to buy to get started and was hoping you guys could help me out with a list. I wanted to start out with some standard football jigs. I have looked at some sites that sell them but I am a little overwhelmed with all the info and wanted to cut to the chase and figure out what I need. So any help would be appreciated.

Where do you guys get lead from? I was looking at Do-it and they recommend getting it local.

Janns Netcraft is a source for all this if you want to use one place.

If I am in need of lead I have used lead from duck hunting decoy weights. I found a good deal a few years ago and bought a bunch. Some people use wheel weight but I prefer not too.

Is there a reason why wheel weight is bad?

they are typically "dirty" (mixed with ohter metals) which can cause issues with bad poors, clogged melting pots, etc
