What's the best way to remove the excess lead from jigheads.i cant seem to find a good tool to remove it
They sell lead cutters called gate shears.
They are a lot like diagonal pliers which will work. Heres some links;

On some molds, the sprue comes off cleaner when twisted off. But I use the gate cutters on some molds like stand up heads. These work well for $2 http://www.harborfreight.com/m....html

I like to remove the sprue before you open the molds. Let it cool, grab it with a pair of pliers and twist. Don't know if anybody else does this but it works for me.
I use pliers to twist mine off also. I take mine out of the mold
