Guys, could use a little help. Benn a Yamaha guy all my life but looking at a boat with a 2003 Evirude 175 FICHT motor and wanted to know if these are good motors. It has less than 300 hours on it and only been above 5K once, most of it life was in the 3 to 3.5K range. Anything I should look out for?

My 03 150 has been a dream!!! it's got alot more hours on it than that!
The 03 is a BRP DI engine not the Ficht. My 03 225 is a hoss and I love it. As with any DI engine you can help it to last by running a good oil and treating the fuel. I run nothing but the XD-100 oil in mine which keeps the internals clean and treat the fuel with Startron fuel additive to help eliminate ethanol problems. Some run the semi-synthetic oil which is fine, but you need to decarb once yearly or every 100 hours. Hope this helps.
