    Bagley Mama Cat knockoff

Here's a knockoff that I made of the Bagley Mama Cat crankbait. 3 1/4" long without the bill, 1 3/8" wide, weighs 1 ounce. Painted with rattle cans. I had to glue two pieces of wood together to make this bait wide enough. I'm not sure how well the gorilla glue that I used for that will hold up, but I think it will be fine.

Let me know what you think.

Looks really nice! That thing should wobble like nobody's business. I think the wood will fail before the Gorilla glue. Poly glue is fantastic stuff.

    Thanks!

I'm not all that worried about the gorilla glue. I've had it fail before, but then I was using it to glue in hook hangers which is not what it is meant for. I believe that gorilla glue is strongest as a wood glue, so I don't think there will be any problems.

Excellent work there Ben, really like your color scheme. The only thing I would add is a signature and date to your work, should be proud to sign a bait like that.

Thanks! I'm going to start signing my baits, at least the ones I make to sell. I haven't done it so far because I don't want to mess them up.

Re: Bagley Mama Cat knockoff (Fishwhittler)

I tested it today, and it swims great. It dives pretty deep, around 8-10'. Action is fast and moderately tight. It pulls hard, but it doesn't pull nearly as hard as an earlier, deep-diving Mama Cat that I did.
