Well for me it was the first time , I de-carboned myself. I got the trusty can and while I did buy the adapter to screw on the schradder valve I went with the spray it in the carb method. I warmed it up on the muffs and had it at 1200+/- but once I sprayed the can through the schradder valve the motor died withing 10 seconds. I had maybe used 5% of the can and when I went to restart the motor it just wouldnt. My motor usually is so easy to start even the first time in the spring it fires and stays running within 5 seconds of turning the key. After a few minutes of trying and not even a hint of it firing I pulled the plugs, dryed them and she farted a few times then came to life. When they say dont use it on tar or cement they are right. With only a quick shot form the can and maybe 10 minutes of soaking my front steps and the prop looked like black pudding. I was able to keep it running and used about 70% of the can then I pulled all the plugs and gave each hole a good shot. With the plugs back in and the kill switch pulled I turned it over for just a second to coat everything in the cylinders.
Well tommorow morning I'll run the #@$%&* out of it. I have some good numbers from a compression check 2 years ago as well as one this spring 105-110 with the 2 lower cylinders the 105-106 range. All test are from the same compression gauge. I have use Pensoil Semi Synthetic sicen buying the boat in 2005 the past owner said thats all he used.
