    Good Skirt Tool

Anyone have an opinion on a good skirt tool. I have the pen style with the wire to pull the pads inside and then slip the collar on but was wondering if there was anything better with spending a bunch of money. I know there was a skirt tool kinda like the one that comes with the skirt factory with red handles but I can't seem to find it anywhere. PS I don't care for the one in the Skirt Factory kit either...Broke the first day.

Thanks for the help in advance

http://www.nakedbaitco.com/products.html this is a pretty neat tool & works well sells for $30, don't know if you'll find one of the "skirtmaster' tools since they went out of production about 2004. I heard someone bought the rights to the old skirtmaster plier tool & is supposed to put them back out on the market but I haven't heard a time frame.

I really like the pro-model expander but didn't really want to spend that much.

Alan have you used the one from Naked Bait Co.???? If so how would you rate it. $30 sounds like it might be the right price for what I plan on doing.

Jason, it's a really neat tool, I have 2 of them (sometimes I get my wife to help me make skirts ) they've held up well (about 13 months & prob. 3K skirts). The parts are some kind of high density plastic (prob. HDPE) but it seems to last OK so far, I'm toying with making one totally out of metal but haven't had time to get far w/ this project. If your using it for personal use, it'll probably last ya several years at least. I've made my own bench-mount expander like the ones 21XDC posted for ya using a woodworking cam-action clamp & some stainless rod but it's a bit of a pain to build. Maybe this winter you could build one if you want one like it for cheap. I think materials & all I have about 25 bucks in mine.

Thanks for all the help everyone...gonna go with the one from Naked Bait Co. and give it a whirl. I don't build a whole lot of jigs maybe 200 or so per year so I think this one might get the job done.
