    Lower Unit Work

Found water in the lower unit as I was getting ready to put my boat away for winter. Getting ready to take her in. Just wondering about what to expect labor wise. About how many hours would it take to replace all the seals and get me water tight again?

How good are you with tools and reading a manual? Pretty easy if you have the tools and the manual.

Fred - I felt pretty good about putting fogging oil down the maintenance port and then attempting to drain and filled the lower unit with lube. And I have an owners manual...but be honest - I am chicken to start taking a wrench to the motor.

Not the most mechanical person in the world. Better off taking it in and having a professional do the job. Just curious what I am up against labor and parts wise.

    Steve,
While the LU is off put a new pump kit in for $55.00, 1 qt of HPF/XR for $15.00. Seals for both the RBC and lower drive shaft for $60 in parts and figure labor X 2-2.5 hrs shop labor rates.

Thanks Fred. Will study that owners manual a bit more. May not necessarily tackle this job - but need to start to figure some of this out on my own. Plus - you guys on this forum are great so I know you have my back when I mess up.
