    Can I shorten a GL3

I have a custom built GL3 844. I don't use it because it feels too heavy (weight wise). Can I saw off about 4" from the butt and will it still perform ok? How would I go about doing this?

yes, you could cut off some of the butt, but honestly, that would give you a very tip heavy rod... and it would probably feel worse

measure how long the handle is behing the reel seat... most bass rods are around 10" if yours is longer than that then you could probably cut it down a bit

You could add some counter weight to the butt, yes it would add weight to the rod but it would feel lighter in your hand. Ive done this to several of my rods. Just remove the butt cap and epoxy the weight inside the blank, then put the butt cap back on.

You can cut of the butt section and even a little of the tip but will make the rod stiffer and "x-tra fast". The main thing though is it immediately voids the warranty on the blank. The blanks have the same warranties as the factory rods as long as the identification sticker is on it when you send it in.
