HELP WITH BRP REMOTE CONTROL WIRING

I have a 1994 cajun fish and ski travis edition with a johnson 200 hp # J200STLERK. Ijust bought a new BRP prewired surface mount remote control Model # questionable, there's not one in the book maybe M000149 50, the part number is 5006180/5006181. The problem I am having is that the wiring for the remote control is not the same as the engine and tach wiring. The old stuff had a lot more wires. There is also a Black and White wire from the remote that is not used anywhere else. I could sure use some help. Thanks.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I connected all of the collored wires together, but the warning horn would just stay on. I ended up just rewiring my old key switch and warning horn for now, and it works. What I am confused about is the purple wires. There are more on the old and only one on the new and the beige wire that goes for the temp. does not work when you hook it up to the beige/blue wire on the new.

You should get the factory adapter kits to make the wiring a plug and play.

The wiring connections and warning system changed for 1996 and later motors, so you have to adapt the system to yours.

If you are knowledgeable in wiring and connections you can make your own adaption by referring to the wiring schematics for your motor and for the System Check version.

If your dealer can't find it or not familiar with the adapter kits, inform them that they are in the Genuine Parts and Accessory book that the dealer receives every year.
