    Johnson 150, new problem?

    1998 Johnson 150 faststrike J150GLECD

A couple weeks ago I rebuilt the vapor separator and one of the carbs (float bowl was leaking). Everything seemed to be running fine, but now a new problem seems to have arose...

I started noticing the last couple times out that the motor is smoking A LOT upon start up and doesn't want to stay running. Once I coax it out of the hole it runs fine till the next time I have to start it. It did not have this problem previously.

Now hears the kicker, took it out on Russell today and it only did the smoking thing once... it ran great after that, idled fine..no problems. So this seems to be an intermittent problem. I read in the manual something about recirc hoses being clogged might make it smoke? Or this something else? VRO? Maybe just new plugs?

BTW, I have not changed oil either (synthetic blend).

As always, thanks for any help!!!

Did you get the vacuum hoses on the correct nipples when you did the rebuild?
