    What setup for shakey head?

Allright guys, let's hear some opinions.. What do you guys use for shakey head's (rod, line, jig heads)? Right now, I'm using a 6'9" rod (Power=Light, Action=Fast). But I'm new to the shakey head thing and don't know if I should be using a stiffer rod in maybe a 7ft. Also, I hope I don't offend anyone, but please don't suggest P-Line Flouroclear. I had a tournament yesterday and I broke off 3 good fish on 10lbs P-Line, needless to say I'm now looking for a new line. Thanks..

Re: What setup for shakey head? (Five Alive)

At the moment I'm using a 6'6"MF St Croix Premier, Okuma Stratus GT-30 spinning reel, 8 or 10lb Trilene XL. I was using a 7' rod but it was a cheapo and I sold it. I may get another soon, if I can find a really good deal. The reel I use is now on sale at Dicks for $20. That's a really good price considering it has 9 bearings. I"m probably going to change the line soon to some floro or briad, just havent gotten around to it yet. I really dont have any problem fishing a shakey head unless I'm on riprap. Then I have a hard time detecting the bite and I've been gut-hooking some of them. Other than that, the line is fine for me.

Also, as for jig heads, I'm using a ball jig head with a spring baitkeeper, made by Dave's Tournament Tackle, a shop local to NC. There's a guy on here, FedXpress that I'm buying my next batch from. His are the same thing.

7' med. rod w/ fast tip, quantum pti-20 reel w/ either 6/8/or10 lb.evolution p-line.im using some homemade jigs from a guy on this site ,1/8 oz w/ screw keeper.i dont like the screw keeper, when my hands get shaky from catching a fish i cant get em on fast enough,so im lookin for a different style keeper, and at times the 1/8 is to heavy.im usin zoom finess worms and zoom speed craws as baits.
