    Swimbait type/brand??

Hey fellas, does anyone know a brand of swimbait that is all rubber, and slides up the line after the hookup? (treble hook stays with fish and bait slides up out of the way) I think Ike was using one at the Calif. tourney this year.. Just tryin to find out who makes em.. Thanks for any info!

There are a couple like that. The 3:16 Mission fish, California Swimbabes, Ospreys, and Double D's all are what some people call "pro-rigged". The line goes through a tube in the nose and attaches to some kind of hook. When the fish gets hooked the lure slides up the line and stays out of the way.

A buddy of mine who fishes the FLW Tour said some pros rig all there swimbaits like that. He said they were rigging the Basstrix swimbaits like that.

Do these swimbaits come with the thru-tube already installed, or do you just use a piece of a stiring straw or something similar, and make the rig yourself?? Thanks again!

    Re: (Mickstix)

All the ones I mentioned come with a hole with a plastic tube in it. Sometimes it comes loose but a little drop of super glue will get it to stay. The Basstrix baits don't come rigged. You can do a number of different things with them. Put them on a darter head, c-rig them, weightless on top, with a weighted hook t-rigged, or there is probably a way to pro-rig them. The toughest thing about them is finding them right now. Since the BASS event at Clear Lake they are near impossible to find.

California Custom baits (I think is the brand) makes one called "Baby E," which looked like what Ike was using. That is already pre-rigged with a hole in the body.

    Re: Swimbait type/brand?? (alxdgreat)

The Baby E is made by California Swimbabes. A great place to shop for swimbaits is http://swimbaitnation.com/index2.html. I know I shouldn't be plugging other websites here. There are no sponsers of BBC that are real swimbait retailers so hopefully it's ok to mention this site. I have nothing to do with either the website or any swimbait maker. Just helping out.
