    Spinnerbait question

Does anyone use a trailer with their spinnerbaits anymore? I remember 15 or 20 years ago, you almost never saw anyone use a spinnerbait without some sort of trailer but I hardly ever use one anymore and I don't recall ever seeing anyone in our club use one either. Most of us still use one on a jig, but not a spinnerbait. Any idea why that fell out of popularity?

I still use the Zoom 4" Split tail or other brands, but same design. Twin straight tails. Never fish a spinnerbait without a trailer, never.

I do not like a curly tail trailer like a grub as it tends to add too much bulk for my taste, and also can cause the bait to turn or roll when a faster retrieve is needed, which is almost always in the clear waters here.

Another good choice is the BPS Cajun Trailer.

i often do not use a trailer. but some conditions beg for one!try a twin tail grub in muddy water it really helps slow the bait and you get more vibration!

I guess I'm one of those odd balls . I use a trailer, and trailer hook, 100% of the time. Mostly the split tail type, but in late spring to early fall, I will use a curly tail grub.

I fish cypress trees, stumps a good bit, and I feel this slows their fall just a little.
I tend to fish a spinnerbait a little slower than most guys also. I like to move it just fast enough to keep the blades turning. I think I get a few more strikes, and hook ups that way.

Use a trailer maybe 10% of the time....use a trailer hook even less
I use a trailer on a jig 100% of the time, as it would not look right without one...

I use ZOOM 4" splittail trailers most of the time on mine. Occasionaly when slow rolling them over weeds I will use a 2" Yamamoto twintail grub on a 3/8 oz spinnerbait as it seems to give me more bouyancy/lift to stay on top as well as more color options. Rarely do I use a trailer hook.
