I went out today and my power trim and tilt worked fine but the gauge wasnt moving. It has work up until now. I check out the wires and ground and all looks fine. What could be causing this? Thank you in advance, Jayme

If it isn't a bad gage then check out the sending unit. You should find in on the tilt bracket near the motor.

Raise motor all the way up,with key on reach under the port side of the mounting bracket and move the lever down slowly while watching the gauge for smooth movement. Then release slowly while watching the gauge.
Okay lifted the motor up and moved the tab up and down the gauge just stayed down. Is there any other way to check the wiring?? Does these gauges just stop working like that??![]()
Follow the wires coming from the sending unit up into the engine compartment you should find where it disconnects from the engine harness. Disconnect it and take an ohm meter and see if you get a resistance change while moving the leaver. To answer your question the meter can go bad or the sending unit can go bad or you could have a bad connection somewhere between the two.
