    2005 Johnson 150

Have a 05 champ 187CX and found out about a month ago on here to set motor hight at 3.5 inches below pad. It did bring RPMs up to 5400 and speed to 53 mph but steering was stiff and exhaust was loud. I dropped jack plate down an inch and got back the ease of steering but lost rpm to 5200 and speed to 51 mph.
Would a different pitched prop help? Have a 05 J150PLSO with a 14.5 X 22 pitch prop. Not sure of brand.

Will try that. I live 2 hrs from lake so when there i concentrate more on catching BASS. Even dropping it down an inch it felt like prop was slipping on take off would have to throttle down so prop felt like it grabbed

Most lakes are outside of Pheonix, AZ at around 2500 ft.

Brought hieght up to 4" from pad. When i bought boat in 2005 pad must of been close to 6". raised jack plate from slide plates being level to inside plate 1.5 inches above outside plate. That gives me 4" below pad.

Keep going up to 3.5". I have the similar set up and run to 5500 RPMs and run high 50's w/ a load.

Will bring it up to 3.5 again. Is steering a little stiff on your rig at 3.5? I wasn't used to the louder exhaust either so maybe i didn't give it a long enough chance to get used to.

    Thx Mig

My steering is very easy. Do you have hydraulic steering?

Yes have hydraulic steering. Maybe just not used to feel. Raised it to 3.5 and while at bartlett a few weeks ago coming into yellow cliffs going up river just seemed kinda stiff making the turns so i lowered it.

Please, don't put constraints on the "TKs"! It's super hot here, don't you know? A man HAS to have his water!!!!
