Engine Alarm

I have a 200 Ficht on a Ranger that has been bullet proof, this weekend I have had my first problem. When I started motor to pull off trailer the check engine alarm sounded (continuous signal for about 1 minute then stops but check engine light stays on). The engine ran fine during all of this. Shut motor down, then re-started after a couple of minutes and had no alarm of light on for rest of the day until I trimmed the motor high to get through a shallow area. Shut motorr down again then re-started again and never had the alarm come back on. Anybody have any ideas or suggestions what might be happening? Will this show up if I hook a computer to the ECM?

The CHECK ENGINE alarm can mean any number of things, just like the one in your car does.

Yep, you need a laptop and diagnostic software to find out any stored error codes.

Will a low battery cause this problem? I checked my battery last night and had about 1/2 charge, I put the charger on last night and it was not fully charged this morning. Will this cause any fault codes to the ECM if it is not getting the full 12 volts?

Yes, low voltage is an error code as well as high voltage
