2004 Ficht 175- Changed oil pump

Changed out the oil pump on my 2004 Ficht 175. I primed the oil pump by the primer bulb until oil came out of the return line. The 6 small clear lines are not filled with oil and have air in them. Do I need to bleed this out somehow or am I ok to start the motor?

I did not have to bleed mine when I replaced it. I beleive the pump needs the EMM to function, therefore the motor needs to be running, I put it on the muffs and started it up, the sytem check warning should alert you if there is a problem.

If I am not mistaken there is a prime mode in the software. I would not run it with air in the lines.

just to be clear, I replaced the whole assembly, including the part with the fuel filter on it. Not just the oil pump

You must use the software to prime all the way out the clear little tubes before starting the motor,otherwise it will not oil at all for quite a little while.

Absolutely a prime mode in the software! I know for a fact because I did it when I replaced a power head on my Ficht. First you use the primer bulb to get it to the oil pump, then you need to hook up the laptop and actuate the oil pump ensuring all air is out of the lines.

On a Ficht/DI you need to start the engine and pinch the return line shut for a specified amount of time.

there is no software or prime mode in a FICHT. Ezellmer is correct.

After bleeding the air out of the pump and injector like you did, pinch off the oil return line with needle nose pliers before the pressure regulator and start the motor and let it idle. Run with the pinched line for about 30 seconds and the air should be out of the oil lines and the motor should be smoking a bit on acceleration.

I only pinched it for about 10 seconds though, do you think that was OK??

I could see all the little lines fill up with oil pretty qquickly once it was pinched

When you use the software on a FICHT to trigger the oil injector, only 12 volts is going to an injector that requires 40 volts to operate correctly.

AS per the Ficht manual, pinching off the return line is the proper procedure.
