    fuel delivery problem????

Here goes. Have a problem with my 1987 evinrude 150hp VRO. Starts every time, charging system working good, runs real good sometimes, 50 on speedo at wot. Then it'll just die off, (not quit), sounds like it is starving for fuel, in neutral reving it up all of a sudden it will jump in rpms like a blockage was let loose, then it'll run good again for awhile, and then do the same thing, slow no wake at full throttle. when i rev it up and then push throttle down at low idle it runs sporadic like it is jumping. motor bucks, then try to throttle up in gear it bogs down. checked plugs, alittle fouled, cleaned and ran ok for awhile, changed fuel filter, no change, bulb does not stay hard, bought new one and new one would not stay hard. With throttle lever up maybe 1/3, with cover off, manually opened throttle at motor and it revs smooth, pushed throttle lever back down and opened throttle at motor and it bogs down. I have emptied tank and added new gas but I did not take out fuel pick-up. could pick-up be blocked? sorry for the length but I wanted to give as much info as possible so bbc gurus can work their magic. Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. John

The motor will rev with no problem in neutral even if it has a problem, there is no load on the motor.

From your post this sounds like a ignition problem because you say it will act like the blockage pushes through, this does not sound like a fuel problem.

it will rev smoothly only if the throttle lever part way up and opening butterflies at motor.

With out a load on the motor it will rev up with no problem, even if it had no compression on one cylinder.

i have not yet checked compression. i understand what you are saying is that if there is a load on the motor that the ignition problem will not allow motor to run correctly?

What I am saying is....if your motor has Any problem and you rev it in neutral, it is going to rev like it has no problem.

What I got from your original post was...to me it sounds like a ignition problem.
