    lower block seals

I have a 78 140 johnnie (mod. 140tl78c ser. j4990278). At the end last year, I noticed my lower engine crank seals leaking. Winter project, change them out. Going to put in new pump kit and t-stats. Is there anything else I should do at this time. P.S. don't laugh, this engine may be old but it has treated me well. Compression 130 on all cyls. Thanks for any advice.

Why do you think the lower seal is leaking?
    What do you see?

No one's laughing, these are super little engines. Sounds like you know how to take care of your stuff. I would glass bead the pistons and new ring it since you're going in this far. You may want to lightly hone the cylinders too, but be sure to measure the bore diameter. You don't want more than @ .004-.005 oversize. When it was new, it was @ 3.502

More than likely a bad base gasket a $10.00 fix all you have to do is pull the PH off and replace the gasket.
