I bent the prop shaft of my 2000 Johnson 225. What are my options. Prop is toast.
Any help would be great.

From your post I would suggest you get a replacement gear case.

Depends on who you ask, I would suggest you check with gearcaseman http://www.bbcboards.net...13074 he can save you a few bucks.
Thanks E. You could straighten your propshaft for @ 30.00 depending on how bad it's bent and if you have spline twisting or not. Anything under .010, I charge 10.00 usually. The case need's to be checked out for alignment issues as well. Also, be sure to check the lower driveshaft for being bent. This would be seen on a shimming tool device. Finally, do a thorough check of the gears for chips or cracks.![]()
A 0.010", it's bent about .500". I took an inch off the skeg as well. I'm a toolmaker by trade, is this something I could fix by buying the parts for and repairingor am I better off taking the lower unit off and replacing?

I pulled the prop and the shaft is bent right at the prop seat. It shimmies as I turn it. Looks like the seals are gone as well as there is plenty of oil in the bullet of the lower unit. Looks like it is getting worse every minute.![]()

Not a problem to straighten the shaft, but you don't want to use this case in this condition. You'll vibrate the internals to destruction. Check everything I stated above upon disassembly very carefully and you should be O.K.![]()
