    fuel pump

Took my boat out yesterday and it ran like a champ all day till i made the run to the ramp. the motor started runnin like it was starvin for fuel. Came home and cleaned out the fuel filter and replaced the primer ball and that did nothing. the boat will get up on plane but then the rpms start surging from 3 grand to 4 and eventually it comes off plane. if i have a buddy sit in the back and pump the ball the whole time it runs fine. called my local mechanic and he said it was the fuel pump. apparently alot of people are havin fuel pump problems and other fuel related issues due to the 10% ehtanol in the gas. Anyone else have these kinds of problems? probably gonna buy a rebuild kit for the fuel pump and disconnect the oil injection system. Any info or pointers on doin this. Never done it myself before.

Why would you disconnect the oil injector? OMC/BRP has the best system out there.

Ill post the model # tonight. I would just feel better if i did. The motor is 10 years old and i'd rather not have it stop pumpin oil out on the water.

Generally most of us don't rebuild them just put a new one on. You can get a Fuel only pump looks just like a VRO but with out the oiler attached. It will save you about $40.00. Just not worth the time and effort for a tech to take the time to rebuild it. Parts are available to do it if you are so inclined. Good luck.

Hmmn, your motor is 10 years old. My motor is 23 years old. When the fuel pump got weak on my old VRO, I replaced it with the new four wire OMS and I love it. But, that is "your" motor and your choice to replace, remove, or disconnect.

    Regards,

If you can't run with the big dogs, just stay on the porch.

Hey my mtr doing the same thing. Took a wild guess and replaced the vapor pump but that didn't help, have you figured out what the solution is?
