I'm finally ready to replace the tilt tube on my '78 Johnson 85 hp (85etlrc). I have the tilt tube, but decided to go ahead and get new nuts for the tube instead of reusing. I know on the left side (looking from behind the motor), you use the lock nut. On the side where the steering cable attatches, do you use the same locknut, then the steering connector outside of it?
I see there is a steering lock nut, and a regular lock nut. Is the steering lock nut basically the same thing that came on my steering cable to screw it to the tube, or do I need the steering lock nut in addiction to the one thats on the cable?
