NoAl Chapter - Sign up here to fish Bankhead on April 17th

The next monthly NoAl tournament will be held at Bankhead on April 17th. We will be launching out of Howton's and will plan on meeting for registration beginning at 5:15. "Ease off" will be at first light which should be between 5:45 and 6:00. Weigh in will be at 3:00pm.

For those of us who are not familiar with Bankhead and need directions, here's a copy of the directions that Alan Carter provided for us last year:

"The address for Howton's is:
350 Pine Ridge Road
Bessemer, AL 35023

Directions according to Google Maps from the I-20/I-59 interchange with I-65 in downtown Birmingham are:
1. Head west on I-20 W/I-59 S for 8.3 miles
2. Take exit 115 for Allison-Bonnett Memorial Dr and go 0.4 miles
3. Keep right at the fork to continue toward Allison Bonnett Memorial Dr and merge onto Allison Bonnett Memorial Dr in 4.0 mi
4. Continue on County Rd-56 (Warrior River Rd) for 4.7 mi
5. Slight right at Taylors Ferry Rd then 9.4 mi
6. Turn right at Pine Ridge Rd and go 0.9 mi
You should be at Howton's Camp

Hey guys I hate to miss this one but trying to make the BWS Regional. I was talking to some of the guys at work last night and one of them said there was a tx out of Howtons last Saturday the winning weight was 26 and some change sounds like they're biting on the Warrior right now.I should be back with you guys in June when things kinda calm down a bit.

I hear they are biting also at Bankhead/Warrior. In my opinion, April is the absolute best month to fish Bankhead because both species are really biting.

Hey Todd, looks like he got you there. You live in Warrior and we are fishing the Warrior River. It must be your home lake! Also, from the looks of the signup sheet, this might be a good tournament to make good on your long standing breakfast obligations. At this point I would settle for a Howton's Ham biscuit! Got a report yesterday from a co-worker, said his son was down there. This was at 12 noon and they had boated 23 with 3 1/2 there biggest fish but they were fishing for numbers just having a good time. Said they were still catching them on a buzz bait at 10am. Don't know how this front is going to affect them.

We had our company tournament at Howton's last weekend. It took 22 1/2 to win the other tournament that day, and 18.19 to win ours. Our group had a 7.11, 6.96, 6.49, and a 6.01 weighed in. I'm not sure about the other tournament, but they obviously weighed in some toads as well.

There's another tx taking place below Bankhead next weekend and I've already heard a couple of the guys were going to Lock up to Bankhead so look for some company. A friend of mine was up there a while back and had a 6.00 spot and had a couple of decent heads. Good luck and keep a grip on them poles the biggun's are a bittin'

Alan was throwing Guntersville out there , i was just seconding his suggection. put me down. i will tell you guys there will be at least 2 other tourneys out of Howtons sat, one is an open , some hunting club, and the other is the bibb county bassmasters. it'll be a little crowded. get there early. they should have b'fast going though.

Y'all have fun. I'll be working the family's semi-annual yard-sale in the big town of Elgin. Getting married one month from today, and between my stuff and the fiance's stuff, we've got a ton that needs to go.

Right after the wedding, Jackson's ballgames will be ending also. So I want to start making these tourney's more often. I'm not fishing any other trails or anything this year so I really want to make some of these "odd lake" tournaments.
