Last yaer a friend of mine in my bass club told me to check the bolts in the top bearing carrier because they have been known to loosen up.I checked them and two of them were loose so i removed the flywheel removed the bolts cleaned everything up loctited and retorqued. After i did this i had a problem with the engine idling low, as i was working on my carberators today i noticed that there is a bracket on the top bearing carrier and that it had been stopping the timer base arm(the bracket is 90 degress and ruberized)when i reassembled the the bracket i put in a position so that it would not hit the timer base arm.My question is this is the bracket a stop for the timerbase arm? I thought it was for holding wires out of the way on maybe a differt ignition system.(optical)
