    285's, RAM mounts, and foam.

Morning everyone!!! I have an 06 285 ProXL, and am getting ready to mount my RAM mount to the boat. I have felt under the spot on the side of my drivers console and it feels like there is several inches of foam under there. Anyone else encounter this? and if so, what size and how long bolts did you use to mount the RAM there.

    Thanks

I had the same issue when I mounted my ram mount. I used 1.5" stainless steel wood screws. That was 4 years ago and I have had zero issues. As long as you not mounthing something heavy like a 10"unit or running rough water like Lake Erie or KY Lake I would say some long woood screws would work for you...just make sure you use stainless steel even if you use a bolt and nut.

Had the same problem with my EVO. There seems to be two layers between the top and bottom of the console. I used the SS screws and have had no problems with my 997.
