OK..showing my stupidity here.. WHAT IS A POWER POLE????

I've heard people talk about power poles. I've seen them on boats. But, what are they used for?? Charging the battery??? The only power pole I know anything about is the one in front of my house that is used to carry power to my house.
I know, I'm showing how little I know about the fancy side of fishing, but what the heck are they used for???

David, they are used for anchoring your boat, they just fold over and hold the boat in place, the lazy way of throwing a anchor out

so its a really really expensive anchor.... when you could stop at walmart and spend 25 bucks. But the one from walmart doesnt look as cool!!!

Or one REALLY BIG one!!! That's my next big purchase, not a huge cheeseburger, but a power pole....... On the other hand, it will probably be a cheesburger!

No doubt...the light usually poses a problem for my co-angler. Those poles would be beaten down!!!!

I just lower them some... then they are no higher than the motor cowl....

They only go eight feet down. Been on the water, watched many tournaments on TV with the pros and yet to see anyone yes them. My guess is after the fad wears off you'll find many up for sell.

Don't worry DavidWebb; I was in the exact same position as you about a week ago. I saw them on boats in some pictures of a tx someone posted on here. I ended up Googling it and got to the manufacturer's website.

I always thought a power pole was an adjustable seat post!

depending on your fishing style and your lakes they may not be useful.....

I believe i'll go ahead and spend 25 bucks at walmart...I can by several of those fancy new zebco 33 reels for $950!!!! And maybe a ugly stick or two...
