I am working on changing out the shift cable on my 201 pro. I have removed the shift handle and am wondering at how to get to the control box in the wall of the boat to get the cable changed out.
Anyone who has done this repair on this model I would love any tips tricks or hints.

OMC or other motor control box?

It is a factory installed OMC control box. The inside wall of the boat goes all the way to the floor the only opening is under the console but there are lots of switches etc in the way...
Since that wall is not structural I am planning on a small access panel to pull the box out to service it.
I have talked with a couple of different people and no one had anything to suggest including Stratos Corporate....

I just took the board out from underneath the dash and stuck my hand up there and unscrewed it and pulled it forward. I tied a string to the cables by the motor and pulled the string all the way thru and pulled my cables back. Sounds like it was easy but it was a pain in the butt. It does come out just a little tricky. Good luck hope I helped you..
Got the new cable in...
Worth saving me the hundreds to pay someone else to do it...Now it confirms too that my shift rod is not adjusted properly. Pulling the LU tonight to readjust that and get everything set properly.
