I have an 06 294 Proxl w/ a 200hp VMAX. I had an older (at least 5-6 yrs old) Detwiller On-the Water Series Jackplate that I bent the top support bar on and now I need to replace the Jackplate. They have redesigned this unit and the replacement parts don't fit.
I recently purchased a Rite-Hite 6" plate and found out that not all JP's raise the motor just by installing it. What I mean is, with the Detwiller set at the lowest setting and the engine at the highest (just to clear the hydraulic lines) I was already at 3.5" below pad, which was ok because I still needed to go up a little. With the Rite-Hite I have the engine at the highest setting and the JP also at the highest setting and I'm at 3.5" below pad with no more adjustment left.
So here's my question....![]()
What do I need to do to get the setup 'back in line', so there is some adjustment in the setup. Do I need to add something between the transom and the JP or do I just have the wrong JP for this boat. I now realize the 294 transom sits low to the water and I may need a different brand of JP which is too bad, I really liked the design of the Rite-Hite.
What Make and Model JP are you 294 owners, or dealers, installing on your boats to get the needed height of the outboard?
