i am looking at a 2005 285 magnum w/ a 175 evinrude on it, i heard that the magnum hulls were just the old javelin hulls? is that true? has anyone ever rode in a 285, and whats the top speed i can expect it has a jackplate,hotfoot,lams480,x125, motorguide digital 82lb, tandem axel trailer w/ brakes.

I have one for sale on the boats for sale page. It's a regular 285 w/ a 150 Johnson. The only difference between my motor and the 175 Johnson is carbs. I'll put it on you and the money you save you can have a 175. My best top speed was 64 w/ a light load. Rides and fishes alot bigger than 18.5 footer. 62 hours on my motor. Holler if you need more details.
All 285 hulls are the old 185 Javelin hull. The Magnum hull is no different from a regular 285.
With a jackplate and the right setup you'll see 66-67 with a light load and 63 or so with two people.
I had an '04 model and loved it. I ran a 25 Tempest prop. The boat rides, handles and fishes great.
