Color of hull bottom - seems like black is the "default" color

It seems like more Stratos boats are being made with black hulls when you see new ones for sale on dealer websites??? Is black the Stratos hull "default" color...Is it for a reason or are more people preferring black ??? Or do you catch more fish with black 'cause the fish can't see you coming ????? That's probably why I do more fishing than catching???? I prefer a white 'cause it doesn't show marks like a black one does, but that's just me.... tight lines

In my opinion and mine only, black hulls are best for fish catching... Might be because of stealth, or could be a complete myth... I know I prefer black for looks and catching fish though...

I believe there are some "package" color combos that dealers can order, as well as, dealers have the ability to pick the colors for their stock boats based on their experience of what sells. My team boat is coming with a black hull. It's just a preference thing. Black, white, all flake. . . it doesn't matter.

i agree with duane i think it's personal prefference. i think a black hull looks better on a black trailer. lord knows i can't catch fish, so the fish attracting or reppeling aspect isn't a ocncern for me. i may zero at the weigh in, but at least i'll look sharp doing it. hahahaha

my current boat has a grey hull which looks awesome with the color scheme. but my next boat will have a black hull because of the other colors i'm going with.

I have a white hull. I fish alot of stained water. Parts of my hull are pretty stained from the mud, especially the places I cant reach when I wipe the boat down. My next boat will have a black or blue hull. If you are worried about scratching a black hull, just keep a Sharpie in your pocket.

I like a black hull because it seams to be the easiest to keep clean to me, not because of fish catching. If you think about it from a fish's view, what color is the sky most of the time you fish? The sky is blue or white most of the time so a black hull when looking up from under water will show up the most.

I have caught fish plenty of times right beside a white hull, so I'm skeptical as to whether it matters or not. My reasoning for choosing white hulls is that all my boats will eventually have scratch marks on the bottom; It definitely shows up less on white.

My Javelin has a tan hull, never seems to bother the fish much. And, doesn't show marks much.

    BLACK , AND I WON'T GO BACK

Tougher to keep clean than tan, but doesn't spook fish as quickly.

Re: Color of hull bottom - seems like black is the "default" color (utfisherman)

I seriously doubt the color even matters as far as fishing is concerned. Hell, fish have been seeing styrofoam, logs, other boats, random trashies, etc. floating around in the water all their lives.

And how many times have we caught fish right at the edge of the boat on the retrieve? It happens to everyone.

Additionally, don't we mostly cast the banks, where the fish are hangin' out, nowhere near the boat?

I will say, as stated before, a black hull looks really sharp on a trailer, though!

Re: Color of hull bottom - seems like black is the "default" color (tnjavelin)

I have a white hull. Often have schools of shad 2 inches from the hull if I'm standing still and my shadow isn't over them. Have carp within inches not spooking either. Both of those tend to be fish that spook easily. Have caught about 40 bass this year directly under the boat in 3 feet of water. Really don't think while spooks fish.

black I would think would look like a wet log or something similiar as well.

For my 2 cents, black makes for a sporty-er look for colors like red, white, and blue. If you look at the boats at boat shows most of them will have a black bottom. Black is an eye catcher.
