    decarb?

Long time no chat guys. I always am keeping up with what you post, great resourse for learning... anyway I have a question

I had my motor rebuilt last year about this time (1996 intruder 175) I has run awsome, since finding a small crack in a carb.

When I stopped using it last year around november everything was running awsome, clean start and smooth idle. I put stabil in the tank over the winter and topped them off, did not fog cyclinders because i started using her again in febuary. Since than... it starts easy but it idles rough. It will not stall but it hesitates a second when getting up on pad, than runs fine. Carbs are rebult, new powerpack, new filters, and i tried new plugs gapped properly. Am i looking at a decarb? Is that the problem? premix the fuel, disconnected the VRO when rebuilt.

If i need to decarb what is the best brand to go with?

    Thanks! ebs

Bombardier "Engine tuner" follow the directions on the can.

Is this the same fuel it was stored with?

No, I have burnt a few tanks (both sides). I topped them off with a few gallons of the "old" still in the bottom. I would think by now, all the old stuff was buned.

Did you run the motor after you poured the stabil in the tank in November?

    If so, how long?

Yes I did run it, only to what I thought was enough to get fuel through both lines (dual tanks) and throughout the motor. I ran it off the hose.

I only use Bomb products, I see alot of carb rebuilds because of stabil.

any reason you dislike the Stabil? Does it have a negative affect on the gaskets or?

I don't dislike Stabil, Its a good product, I just don't recommend it.

I get a lot of carb rebuilds where the customer used Stabil, did they follow the directions, I don't know but, the fuel seems to be suspended in a small ball of Stabil and the motor wont run.

    interesting.

I've used it over the years on an old Rude(81) and never had an issue but maybe shouldn't on the newer engines
