anyone ever have their axle pushed back?

after fishing a lake on the drive home I went over some bad bumps & heard my trailer (single axle) tires screech a couple of time (was not going fast, just road construction). When I got home I noticed my axle had shifted back about an inch. Is this an easy fix? I'd assume I need to loosen up the big u bolts and push it back into place, but do I need to do measurements or anything like that? I think it might have happened at the ramp because I had never fished there before, and there was a big drop off the last concrete block in the ramp, so I'm thinking that maybe when I pulled out it happened, I'm not sure.

Yes you should measure from several points to make sure the axle is staight with the trailer. Measure from the spring mounts to the axle and possibly from the tip of the tongue back to each axle. There may have been or should be some sort of nub on the axle or flat plate or something I would think to center the axle on the spring.
