    skeeter livewell help

i just purchased a 2008 21 i class and i am the 3rd owner, which sucks because i am not elgible to get warranty on the boat. I fished my 1st tourney out of the boat this weekend and learned that the port side livewell will not hold water. Help! What can i do to make it hold water? The valve beside the drivers seat is turned to closed and nothing. please help. I am allready so frustrated with skeeter for claiming to have the best warranty in the buisness. I don't understand how you can have a 2008 21i (almost $50,000) new and it doesn't have warranty. My iforce locks don't work worth a crap. Any ideas??? Please! The wife doesn't want me spending any more money since i just "upgraded" boats

You need to check the asembly at the valve itself in the back of the boat, I have a 08' 20i myself and the same thing happend to me in a tournament and luckly I heard the fish flopping around in the livewell after a 20 mile run. The plumbing my have come un hooked

yamaha pro is right, but also check the cable and the selector knob. i had a cable brake at the selector, wasnt hard to find, and wasnt that bad to fix, just make sure you have the right movement on the cable at the valve, (which is a pain to get to or work on) i have two plugs that i use, just in case , when i am in a tourney. sorry about the boat warrenty, hopefully you wont need much, but the motor is different!!,, you get that warrantee regardless,, right?

I have the same problem with my 05 zx225. I haven't had the money to fix it yet so I just bought a 3/4'' livewell plug for it and stick it in the livewell drain and fill it up and then just recirculate as needed. I know this won't fix the livewell but it works good until you can get it fixed. Of course I don't ever catch enough fish to fill up both livewells so I just use the one that works most of the time

I have the same problem but i think mine is the valve itself. Some have said that it could have trash in it which keeps it from closing all the way or the "flappers" inside are worn out. I'll be pulling mine in the near future to see what the problem.

My ZX225 has the same issue........but to fix it I sent the wife to Hobby Lobby and had her buy me a pack of different sized corks for like a buck. I just plug the hole and fill it up.

Holy crap - it seems like there are a lot of similar problems from a lot of guys. Wouldn't there at least be some kind of technical bulletin published to identify this systemic problem? Also, don't you think Skeeter's engineers would have fixed this by now? Makes me nervous, I just bought a 2004 ZX 225 and haven't even had a chance to enjoy it yet. Livewells are no big deal but if you fish a tourney and kill a fish or if you store bait and it dies it could be a big deal. Just my 2 cents.

Skeeter would warranty them but yet you might have to talk to the OEM. For instance, i had a Rule pump go out on me after a year, well it was still under warranty by skeeter but i went directly to Rule and skipped the middle man. Got a new pump with out any problems.

FYI, if it is the valve you can buy a repair kit from Flow-rite ($10) or a new valve ($36). I'll be doing one or the other in the near future.

I guess that makes sense - many parts are made for Skeeter by other manufacturers. Thanks for the info.

Cable that operates the valve may have come loose or the little arm broke.
