Press Release From Northern Owners Tournament:

10th Annual Northern Skeeter Owners Tournament a Success!

The 10th Annual Northern Skeeter Owners Tournament turned out to be a great event! With sunny skies, and record warmth, anglers could not have asked for a nicer weekend. A total of 123 teams, from seven states, converged on Patoka Reservoir for the friendly competition. The 2008 payout, valued at over $45,000, was the richest yet, and everyone walked away with something.

The fish cooperated for some, but overall fishing was tough, with 51 teams bringing bass to the scales. The winning team of John Logue and JD Kyle brought in 6 fish weighing 18.50 lbs. Big Bass of the event was caught by the team of Terry Weaver and Jim Beussink, with a great 5.59 lbs. largemouth. Ron Hittle and his son Tyler brought 6.67 lbs to the scales, taking top honors in the Adult/Youth category. The Male/Female top prize went to Carter Schakleford and Gena Lynam, with 2 fish weighing 5.70 lbs. In total, the top 15 places and these special teams took home over $12,000 in cash awards.

The weekend was also filled with fun, demo rides, and great prizes, provided by Skeeter boats and their partners. The prizes included a ZX190 boat package, a Power Pole anchoring system, Minn Kota trolling motor, and raffle donations from: Yamaha, Skeeter, Perry Marine, B&J Marine, Sure Life, Got 2 Love It Bass Tournaments, and Secret Lures. The following dealers also sponsored our annual attendance prizes:

• Farthest Drive – Lake Drive Marine
• Oldest Skeeter – Cope Marine
• Newest Skeeter Owner – Lewis Engines

The biggest winners of the event were Mike Letterman and Rick Hayes, who won the draw for the new boat. Mike, of Jasper, IN, is currently a Skeeter owner and excited about his unexpected “upgrade”, which he plans to keep.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in this great event, including the participating dealers, staff, and Got 2 Love It Bass Tournaments. Bill and Donna Embry, and their crew, made sure everything from boat check through weigh-in ran very smoothly. Plans for next year are already underway and you can look for more details in the coming months.
