    Thinking of buying a 97 Skeeter 185zx

I am new to bass boats, but I found a used one I really like. I have an acquaintance who says that when you come off plane water comes over the transom. Is that true? If so how much? Anymore or less than any bass boat? Like I said I have never had a bass boat at all let alone a skeeter.

I have the same year/model and yes, on occasion, some water comes over the transom when the boat sets down, but it can be avoided. In my case, its never been even enough to turn on the automatic bilge pump after a day on the lake. When I first got the boat, I splashed water about halfway up the rear deck hatch once or twice. You learn to bump the gas slightly and stay ahead of the "wave". No big deal. After a while, you don't even have to look back.

As stated by Skeeter Jeff, just bump the throttle to stay slightly ahead of the collasping wake. Before long, it will be second nature. You will enjoy the the ZX185.

I agree it will happen occasionaly if you all of a sudden just shut down the motor, but, if you let back on the throttle, and let he settle down on pad you will not have a problem. It will go away with the more seat time you have.

    Definitly, the 1997 ZX185c is a aweosme rig. I have a 1997 that I bought in 1999, with a 175 yamaha Pro V.
I honestly do not have a reason to get rid of it...It still looks like the day I bought it. It rides awesome, and looks awesome as well.
My buddy has a 2000 ZX185c, there is absolutly no difference in hull, cap, and interor.
You will love it if you decide to go ahead with the purchase.

    I happen to have a 1997 ZX185 for sale (see at http://www.724outdoors.com/cla...m=264
    if you are interested.

If you come off plane to a dead stop water will come in over the back. Easy solution though - come off plane and then just goose the throttle a little to stay out on front of the backwash wave.

On the plus side the holeshot on my Skeeter is great. I'm on plane in half the time it takes my friend to get his 95 Ranger out of the hole.
