    Nicked up bottom end

I was easing along the other day and the water went sharply from 15' to 2' gravel bottom. Didn't hurt much because I was only going 5 mph or so but it nicked up below the prop pretty good. I was thinking of taking a die grinder and smoothing it out again. Any problems with doing this? I'm pretty new to glass boats so didn't want to do anything stupid. Thanks in advance for the opinions.

Re: Nicked up bottom end (07repsol)

I would send it to a prop shop. They will make sure everything is balanced and restore it to like new condition.

I have heard that using a metal file on a stainless prop make it unfixable, not sure if its true or not.

The prop is undamaged thankfully. It's the bottom end of the motor under the prop that's nicked. Just wanted to smooth it out.

If its your Skag,on the bottom of your lower unit, you can take a course file an shape it up in just minutes, the heavy rasp like file will shape the alluminum nicks right back into shape.

Thanks obiggen. Think I'll try that. More for my feelings than anything else.
