ZX202c Setup

Hi Skeeter owners, new to the BBC Boards, been reading for awhile.

Just bought a 1998 ZX202c with 200 VMAX on a 12" Jackplate, My third Skeeter.

Would like to know what motor height should be for optimum performance.

Motor seems a little low, and while I know this particular boat hits 69 on GPS, I have also been told it can bite a chine and turn a wicked 180. Sounds to me like a motor height issue, too much motor in the water, but just want to see if anyone else has issues.

Also, What kind of water pressure should I see, and how many RPM's with a three blade 25 prop.

too low and the front end will "wave, or have a fish-tailing feel". Not chine walk, chine walk is good.
Gain rpm's and lose speed simultaneously generally means too high, or dip below #12 wter pressure whichever comes first.
Start at 2 3/4" below the pad and start going up to find the sweet spot.
I run mine @ 2" below but yours may be different depending on load, prop, etc. good luck.

I have the same boat. If I remember right, mine is 3.5" below pad, 25M prop.
Water pressure is below 5 at idle and 18-22 at WOT.

What type of speed are you getting with your setup?

Also, what are your RPM's

I am setup with a 12-inch setback and a 27 pitch three blade prop.

I am only getting 66mph at 5700. Forgot to mention I have a 12" jackplate.
I had a small problem with my O2 sensor though, I cleaned it good and got back up to 66mph. It would be faster with a new O2 sensor, but sinse it runs this good, I am not paying 300 for a new sensor, I will wait till it starts running crappy. It used to run 69-70. I also need to get my prop blueprinted.

Haven't had t on the water yet, just picked it up Monday

Also, I don't have an HPDI, I have the original carburated VMAX, so I won't have an 02 sensor to worry about.

I talked to a mechanic who told me I should see 55 to 5600 rpm from it with the setup I have.

I'll post more after I float it. Am hoping to run it within the week, am going to wait until I install the hot foot and Pro Trim, don't like driving without it.

Finally got her on the water.

RPM's seemed high, 5900 with a 27 pitch prop

speed was 67.2 on a GPS with around 16 to 17 PSI at WOT.

Getting better to me. Don't worry about those rpm's especially if that is light load. I always shoot for 6000-6100 rpm's light cause when you get loaded up you will be near 5900-6000 rpm's. Yamahas love 6000 R's. You still have water pressure so keep going up-your handling should get better too.
