    Question on Ranger boat

Trying to do some research before I buy. Looked at a 1996 Ranger today. It's advertised as a 482VS (decal on boat also says 482VS) took some photos of hull data plate and it is labled as RNG 5A013K596 Model 462VS. Doing some research here Ranger did not make a 482VS in 96?? The boat seems in great shape and will drive it tomorrow. Has a 2003 Mercury XR6. Anything I should be worried about based on the decal and ad? Thinking maybe the decal was replaced with incorrect decal. Not sure if it is misleading for a reason. I think a 482 is a 19' boat and 486 is a 18'9. Thanks just being cautious.

Re: Question on Ranger boat (ajwasco)

Check the horse power rating,,, maybe have something to do with the motor hanging on the back.

You have to get up in the 487,488 boat to have a 200 hp on it's back.

Re: Question on Ranger boat (ajwasco)

461 and 2 VS and 481 and 2 VS boats were both 175 max H.P. boats. The 482VS boats were indeed made in 1996.................I had a "Classic Boat" that vintage. The boat I had was rigged with a 150 on it because it was a classic boat although the max H.P. rating was 175. Those two boats were two of the finest to ever roll down the line at Flippin. The 461 and 2 back in the day were "hot rods" for Ranger. The 482VS is a 19'3" boat including the 15" setback. Boat is 17'10" and 15" built in set back makes 19'3". Check the boat out and have engine checked and you should be good to go. Be sure to post us some pics if you get her. Below is a little "eye candy" of my 482 VS "shaggin" it. Boat had a 6" Jackplate on her also..............................RR

I tried looking the serial number up on that rig but it came back as an invalid serial number, give Ranger a call with the serial number or email me with the right one and i will find out exactely what boat that is. rodney@jetamarina.com
