200 Promax good motor for my 98 Intimidator?

So my Mariner 200hp 2.5L is shot. Looking to repower the boat, and close to pulling the trigger on a 1997 Promax 200 (boat is rated for 200hp max).

I'm sure that it is, but before I pull the trigger I have to ask - would the Promax be a good motor for this 20' Intimidator? Being a 1998 it does not have trim tabs, but does have hydraulic steering.

Oh ya, it will be fine. We had a 225 Pro Max on a 206 and it was a great motor.

Just because the boat is rated for 200 Max doesn't mean you can't go a little bigger though

I really want to go bigger, but while I still have a small loan with the bank on it I'm going to keep it within limits.

After that though, no telling where I might go.....but don't think I'll every be ready for a 300X! That's some crazy s*#t there!
