    Fizzing fish

We were talking bout fizzing fish here while back. Paul said that he prefered to fizz his fish from the throat. I would like more information on this. I understand about the side deflation but I'd like to know more about the throat method.
I had my first experience with a fish that needed fizzed the other night. (I think)! I caught one at night on a blade at a 25ft depth. Approx. a 2/3lber. The surface temp was 91. I put the fish in the livewell with some stabilizer (it was my first keeper). With in a minute or 2 the fish was on his side and then shortly after on his back belly up. I caught more fish that night but they didn't come out of that deep of water. I ended up with 4 keepers biggest being 4.97 and all the fish were fine except for the one that came from deeper water. Should I have tried to fizz that fish??? I have only been fishing tourneys a few years and have never heard of the fizzing till on here the other day. I am also new to fishing deep waters. I am learning but need some help.

No blood just a standard mouth hookset. I hooked it on a night time spinnerbait slow rolling in 25 foot over a rock ledge.

Matt,Here's an article that bassmasters had on mouth fizzing. http://sports.espn.go.com/outd...edure
whichever method you use just make sure you have a good needle to do it with.

Use a big needle on a syringe without the plunger and go in just below and between the "crunchers" inside the mouth. Just be sure to angle the needle away from the spine as much as possible. You will hear air coming out of the syringe when you get it right. Another thing to remember is to not squeeze the fish in order to get more air out, if this happens it will sink to the bottom like a rock. Just let the air come out on it's own.

    Good luck!
